About Us

The Voluntary Association of Rural Municipalities of the Micro Region Mariánskolázeňsko (hereinafter referred to as the "Association ") involves rural villages near Mariánské Lázně: Dolní Žandov, Drmoul, Lázně Kynžvart, Mariánské Lázně, Stará Voda, Trstěnice, Tři Sekery, Valy, Velká Hleďsebe, Vlkovice and Zádub-Závišín.

The Association is organized under § 46 et seq. Act No. 128/2000 Coll., on Municipalities (Municipal Establishment), as amended, and is therefore treated as a public entity.

 

The activities and cooperation with the Association of the communities involves protecting and promoting the common interests of communities for the comprehensive development of the Mariánské Lázně region (environment, urban planning, promotion of small and medium enterprises, housing, education, leisure, transport, tourism, care of monuments, science, etc.), ensuring a coordinated approach to community development of various areas (particularly rural development to achieve optimal compliance with the principles of sustainable development), and concentration of ways and means to promote goals beyond the possible scope and significance of individual members, including providing appropriate financial resources.

 

The Association was registered at the Regional Office of the Karlovy Vary Region on November 27th, 2003.

 

Working with Members in the Association and Implementation of Joint Projects

 

The prevailing activity of the Association is currently fundraising for the development of the Mariánskolázeňskaa region (grant management). The majority of Association projects are by individual municipalities (about 75%), while a smaller proportion (25%) are joint projects. A smaller part is work organized and run by member municipalities and NGOs active in the Association.

Cooperation within the Association can reduce the disadvantage of small towns, which do not have human and financial resources to implement separate projects.

The smallest municipality in the Association is the village of Vlkovice (125 inhabitants); the largest is Velká Hleďsebe (2 200 inhabitants). Total population in the Association is about 8500 inhabitants.

For comparison, the famous spa town of Mariánské Lázně, from which the Association derives its name, currently has 14 300 inhabitants. The size of the Association in the Czech Republic is average. A portion are suburban communities, others are typical rural villages, structurally affected by a large population exchange after the Second World War.

1) The Association is one of the founding members of the local action group MAS 21, o.p.s. ID: 264 08 309. https://www.mas21.cz. MAS 21, o.p.s. is primarily implemented as a Strategic LEADER in the European Union LEADER initiative.

2) In 2011 the Association was the sole founder of the non-profit organization Mariánskolázeňská, o.p.s. ID: 291 14 161. https://www.marianskolazensko.net

3) The Association cooperates with various working groups of the Karlovy Vary region.

 

Partnership / Partnership Search

Thus far, Mariánskolázeňská has not realized any large, cross-border cooperation projects, only smaller projects with nearby Bavaria (Germany). Despite this, interest continues in a partnership, ideally with a similarly placed region.
